Prayer request
I hesitated to post this one. I've been torn up over this for a couple months now. I'm not looking for any sympathy for myself (I'm not the one truly hurting), or to get anyone angry - just for prayers, as I have seen first hand the power of prayer from this forum.
A couple months ago my neices (my sister's two daughters, 7 and 5) were molested by their babysitter - a teenage boy. He had come highly recommended from a neighbor - a star athelete and popular kid at school. Fortunately they only had used him the one time, and they found out a couple days after the incident. My sister reported it, the sheriff's office did an investigation, and confronted the boy - and he admitted to it.
My first reaction was sheer, violent, burning anger. I wanted to hunt the bastard down and skin him alive. I realized this was inappropriate - not in wanting to do this, and certainly not that he didn't deserve it, but rather I was focused on my anger and not the pain my sister, her husband, and especially my nieces were going through. Fortunately, the molestation only involved very inappropriate touching - and the girls are pretty much by it already, though they did have some problems the first few weeks. My sister and BIL are just tearing themselves up over it though - blaming themselves endlessly. My wife and I have been there for them, but it has just been very difficult on everyone involved.
So, if you all could drop a prayer for my nieces, my sister and brother-in-law to help them all get through this, I would greatly appreciate it!

All those people who think being a police officer or a detective need to think about who investigates these crimes. I deal with this on a daily basis and it's a very hard pill to swallow for the families involved. There's no registry to pick babysitters from and all you have to go on is references or the family. There's no guarantees. You sister and BIL shouldn't blame themselves. They won't be able to protect their children 24/7. Bad things happen to good people. My prayers for both your families.

A psychologist told us in an annual peace officer standards & training certification class(I was a probation officer for 37 years) that sexual child abusers need to be in counseling for life as there was no 'cure' & no way to stop their behavior , imo the perps need to be emasculated!kimwcook wrote:All those people who think being a police officer or a detective need to think about who investigates these crimes. This is not good news Jay, sorry to hear of such an incident that's for sure. Good thing these girls have such good parents, and a not so bad uncle thrown in, glad it wasn't more serious than this.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.
