Perfect antenna, survival radio

I`m putting together a survival crystal radio I can hook up out in the woods.
A 100 foot steel tape works perfect for a antenna, string it out and wind it in when done.
Need a tent stake for a ground yet which I have but gotta wait till spring to try it all out.

Hang it from the celling, I don`t have one or I`d try it.

The person that told me this used it in an apartment, where reception was poor & he wasn't allowed to make any "permanent" additions - so he just dropped it out of a window...

If a second War Between the States occurs, I will be betting on the people like Pitchy and some others on this forum to come out on top. A wan among the people of The U. S. could eliminate a bunch of our luxuries. People who know how to make things would survive.

Tube type radios are a lot more forgiving when it comes to the kind of antenna they can use. I heard a story about an old HAM that was using a boat anchor tube radio after Katrina. He used an antenna tuner on his old tube type transceiver and hooked up to a chain link fence to broadcast a call for help. If you understand the basic principals you can git 'er done!

Got the slinky today, doesn`t work in the house but may work good outdoors.
