I was able to pick up pistol number two from my friend this morning. This Field King is in even better shape than the H-D Model I brought home last weekend.
Easily 95% condition and probably a little better than that. This one also came with a spare magazine. Serial number dates it to 1951 in my Blue Book. Can't find any of this model for sale on the internet so far and my vastly out of date Blue Book puts this one over $600 in this condition. Not bad for $500 for the pair.
If things warm up like they should on Monday I'll be able to do a quick range report. Maybe.

Field King was one of the lower level Hi Standards back then. But it's way better than almost any .22 semiauto pistol made these days! They are pretty darn accurate, and have good sights too! If you keep an eye out you might locate a 2nd barrel in 6" or heavy 6" that will slip right on to make it even better! Extra barrels show up occasionally, and were an option back when they were new.
There's a 2 barrel Olympic on Guns International right now for $500 from a dealer in NY. A very good deal for the upper end Olympic in .22 Short with ported barrels, and all the weights.
Thanks for the info!
Kind of what I suspected with a name like Field King. There is one that I found on Gunbroker that looks to be a later model with a longer barrel and different style take down. They have it listed at $795 with no bids. I'll have to get out and shot them both before I decide what I'll do with them. I can always make room for a couple of good .22s, but....

Besides the Sport King that I had years ago I bought a Dura-matic, I think that was the last down in order. It was also a great shooter. The only .22 auto in the safe now is my grandson's Ruger 22/45, 'll have to say rhat is about the best .22 auto I have ever shot.

I say you got a really good deal. I really didn't need to see that! Reminds me how old I'm getting and how many guns like that were at gunshows back in the 70's.. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Yes Jerry, the Duramatic was the entry level Hi Standard. It came along when Hi Standard was attempting to compete, and needed a model they could build cheaper. But even the least expensive Hi Standard was way above the competition!
