The .345 Cal Burton Winchester Rifle

Post by Pete44ru »

.

In ca. 1917, Winchester produced an experimental automatic rifle for WWI, on the design of Frank Burton, called the Light Machine Rifle, with twin detachable magazines atop the receiver.

The .345 cartridge was based on the .351 Winchester Self-loading.

Wouldn't know till I handled one. But it would have been a heck of a lot for effective than the Petersen device for walking fire across no man's land.

Not to mention better for repelling an assault if you had a sufficient number in a squad.
