My Fall 2016 Moose from BC
I'm attempting to send a pic of my last year's fall moose. I have not been able to
transfer pictures to Paco Kelly's site. Tried many times. So I'm trying again.
He weighed 841 lbs hanging in the locker. 270 yard shot with my Marlin 338 Express. Through the heart, he went down immediately
and did not get up.

Hornady 200 gr. FTX Load them myself, they are a little bit hard to come by these days.
I figured it would be about 8" low at that range. It was about right.

.
Nice Moose !
It looks like the .338 ME is no slouch, either.

Well done, daisygordon! I see you are just down the road in Junction City. Can I ask what outfitter you used?

Thank You for the post, I have both the MX & MXLR Marlin .338's. This truly shows the capability of the ,338 Express. It's TOO bad that Remlin doesn't have a clue what they were handed from Marlin . Made My Day.

Re: My Fall 2016 Moose from BC
I have been hunting with Windy Mountain Outfitters, that is in the Caribou District, East of 100 Mile House.
Chris Condie is the outfitter and guide. I've been taking friends with me several years now. We have taken
4 moose in 3 years, 3 large ones and one younger one. I have also killed 2 bears there. We usually carry
Wolf tags but have not gotten close enough to one for a kill. There are so many wolves.
I was disappointed when they dropped the Marlin 338 Express. It is a great caliber for big game, kind of
a short magnum. I'm glad I held on to mine and hunted with it. My guide had not seen that caliber before
and was surprised that a lever action would do so well at that distance. He is used to hunting with a
Winchester 338 magnum which will kill the big bear when opportunity arises.

Thanks for the great pics!

Shot my moose near there several years ago with the Marlin 338ME, but used the Remington 250 gr bullet, 267 yards.

Glad to hear someone else hunts with the Marlin 338 Express, I never hear anyone say they do.
It's really surprising it didn't do better, too many 338s I would guess.
