I think I remember seeing photographs of a Winchester Model 1895 wearing a tang sight. I have no idea where I might have seen the photographs.
Can the rifle have any tang sight installed? That is, how does a tang sight get around the very long travel of the rifle's long breech bolt? If tang sights are successfully mountable, would all sights mounted correctly be usable, or would sights be limited to Soule types, or Marble's types, only?

There's only two ways you can do it.....the first is to d & t the tang and put on a Marbles flexible joint sight. When the bolt travels to the rear, it pushes it back....I never liked that idea.
The second is what I did to a 95 in 35. I bought an original Marbles "special long base" sight with a tall stem originally designed for a Stevens 44 action. I only used the stock bolt to hold the sight on and epoxied the base of the sight to the tang, so there was no need to d & t. It held for many years and hundreds of rounds until I took it off a couple of years ago. -----6

Six,
From your photo, it appears that the Marbles sight will fold back level with the top of the stock; is this fat enoughto lock the sight in poaition?
