22 Hornet ?
Prolly too high a pressure for any kind of lever? How does the Bee, Zipper or 25-20 compare to Hornet numbers?
I just looked at the Hodgdon load data for Hornet, Bee and 25-20.
Top loads for the Hornet are around 42K cup.
Bee and 25-20 both have top loads around 38K cup.
My Lilgun load for the Hornet is 28-30K cup.
I think the biggest issue with the hornet isn't the pressure but all of the factory loadings available with pointed bullets. No one will introduce a levergun with a mag tube for a round that has factory ammo that isn't tube safe. You can handload an unsafe Bee or 25-20 round, but you can't buy one.
As much as I love leverguns, I think my Hornet load of Lilgun and the 40 gr VMax would be hard to give up. Now, if Hornady would make this with the gummy tip, it would be a winner.

It was cartridge dimensions that stopped the Hornet from being chambered in a levergun. Was easier to create the Bee for the 92 than to adapt it to the Hornet.

It's a shame that the Hornet can't be used in a tube mag. I would swop my CZ 527 FS tomorrow for a lever gun. Its a very useful round, especially in more built up areas. Perhaps someone might scale down a Win.95 or Savage 99 but that is just wishful thinking!

Better than 22 hornet or 25-20
Boys,
All you have to do is grab a Rossi M92 in 347 mag, remove the 357 mag barrel and install a 257 barrel chambered for .256 Win Mag and you is in super business.
Mine is a trapper and I can almost carry it in my pants.

The Savage 99 came in .22 High Power and .22-250.
Guess you could load them down if you wanted.
OK, OK, I made the jump.
