Good price on Marlin .44?

Post by RonK »

The local Gander Mountain has a nice Marlin 1894 .44 mag Stainless with Ballard rifling that has been Magna-Ported for $499.95. Gun is in nice shape and has scope mounts with rings . Is this a fair price for one? Haven't been in the gun buying scene for a while and would like some opinions. Thanks.

Not bad for Gander Mtn. It's not a steal but you're not getting ripped off either.

Not bad, but I'm not sure I'd want one Magnaported. I assume it would just make it louder, and I never thought the 1894 recoiled enough for it to be an issue.

The 1894ss has become my favorite gun for some time now, so in any configuration I think it is great. I WOULD like the option of a synthetic stock for it, though...

You don't need ports and I'm sure you can find one a hundred bucks or more cheaper. I did, right here on this forum.
