IMR-4895 reduced load warning !!!!

Post by Boreman »

Note in the April 2017 NO.307 issue of Handloader Mag. Page 7...........
Hodgdon contacted John Barsness with new information about his article on reduced loads in handloader NO 306
After considerable testing Hodgdon recommended AGAINST using IMR-4895 for reduced loads, suggesting
only H-4895 and Trail Boss.

Kind of makes sense, H4895 is a ball powder and it catches fire easier then IMR stick.
I've never played with reduced loads but this will be FILED for future reference!

You mean H4895 is extruded powder, right?

It always seemed confusing that those ('IMR' and 'H') powders were numbered the same and yet often behave quite differently.
