Anybody have a Wild West Guns Marlin takedown

Post by fordwannabe »

I know how to install the plate that makes it possible to separate the halfs. My questions are about the mag tube. I see the mag tube end is pinned in place and the thumbscrew goes into mag and what looks like a dove tail with just a hole in it in bottom of the barrel. My guess is the tube end is now threaded to accept a threaded portion of the thumbscrew with just a post going into the dovetailed piece installed in the barrel, can someone confirm any of this? Also what stops the magazine from sliding the whole way out when disassembling the rifle? Thanks.

Based upon my original Marlin 1893 TD, it looks to me to be identical.

Likely he has extended the slot that is in the top of the mag tube to the bottom. Thus he can use a thumb knob to hold the tune in place. I took pics of the original from the bottom where the screw is visible, that holds the latch mechanism in place. On the top of the tube, the stud that the same latch mechanism is held by, the slot to allow movement of the tube can be seen. Clear as mud.
