Old bad words
I was talking to a friend and said (oh horse Sh*t Charlie) Dad would say to his father(at times). My neighbor stated that her dad use the same term. My son, in the Navy and friends now use this term. Are we the only one's?

Never heard that one......I'm sort of fond of Judas Priest....hardly anyone has heard that one, at least unless they are as old or older than I am....

Re: Old bad words
Both are familiar to me; guess I grew up around some cussers. I'm not familiar with the Charlie bit though. Age could be a factor; I'll be 78 in a couple weeks.
Re: Old bad words
Had a grandpa that said it a lot. Around grandma, he tried to use "horse-feathers". He'd slip from time to time around her though. Boy do I miss him.

Ha! My dad used to say "horse-feathers". I don't think I ever heard anyone else say that.Skychief wrote:Had a grandpa that said it a lot. Around grandma, he tried to use "horse-feathers". He'd slip from time to time around her though. Boy do I miss him.

Have you hugged your rifle today?

There was a lot of Horse sh** around my house. An OKie that told tall tales and a Texan that was married to him that would call him on his Horse Sh**..

Re: Old bad words
My Mother would almost pass out at anything worse than "Oh Gripe". "Darn" would make her cry. "Dang it" was said once by my Dad. He apologized for a week. My brothers and I learned Spanish pretty quick. Mom never learned art more Spanish than enchilada and burrito, so we got away with some stuff.

Re: Old bad words
My dad would use it. He claimed old man Porsche would refer to competitor's designs as such (I don't recall his source for that claim). I use it myself now and then.
Re: Old bad words
FWIW; I know a few fellers (Blaine) that substitute "Pelosi" for the word sh**. Fitting...

Re: Old bad words
Heh, funny how each family is different. We weren't allowed to say a lot of words -- not even "ain't" when only kidding.
Mom and Dad were pretty pious folks when it came to cussing. I think I was 12 when I heard Dad say "d**n" the first time -- and that was on a golf course.
He did tell us once that as a little boy, he heard someone use the phrase "son of a *****." When he tried that phrase out on his father that night at the dinner table, Dad said grandpa seemed to physically sail over the table so as to administer corporal punishment on the spot.
Of course, being a World War II combat veteran, Dad had heard it all. He just didn't use the language, at least in front of me and my brothers.
Boy it is tough trying to outwit the language cleanup software here!
