Winchester's online catalog shows Model 94 in 25-35 and...

Post by kaschi »

…38-55 (along with the 30-30) for those of you who may be interested. I'd buy one of the 25-35's if it were true to pre 64 specs which is unfortunately not the case. Maybe the new Uberti 94 will be more true to original design.

I'd been looking periodically to see if they decided to bring back the 25-35 like they did in '06. They've offered the 38-55 for a while now. Thanks for the heads up, may have to get one. Say what you will, but that Winchester has one thing the Uberti never will.....a Winchester roll mark! Which to me matters.

My first big game hunting was with a 94 in .25-35. I may have to get one just for old time sake (as if I didn't have enough gun projects already).

I am definitely doing something wrong here, I went to both those sites and can find no mention of any sort of Model 94. :?:

All I see is an 1873 rifle and an 1866 short rifle.

Thanks, harry, don't know why I couldn't find that. Still, no mention of 25-35 on that site. :?:

Go to the Model 94 in the products section and on the right side of the description is an options section, it will show the other calibers. Don't feel bad I missed it the first two times I looked at it. Maybe this is the reason Hornady introduced the new load in 25-35.

Found it at last. Thanks. :D

Gonna have to start saving my pennies for the 24" rifle. Sure wish they weren't the danged angle eject models, guess you cant have everything.

The Uberti clone was just announced at Shot Show, not on their website yet... I think I recall hearing that production should be available by Summer(?). Tho' Taylor's has it listed on their website... (at the very bottom of their list for cartridge rifles).

Interesting to note that 450 Marlin is also shown as an option for the short rifle.

the one that trips my wire is the regular production 1892 short rifle in 44 mag. problem is, the twist rate is 1:26, which still seems slow to me.

can anyone tell me how long or how heavy the 26" twist will reliably stabilize?

next interesting rifle to me is the 1866 short rifle in 44-40 with a 26" twist. Does anyone know what the bullet length and pressure limits are for the brass rifle? And how would that brass fare in a salt water marine air environment? (I misread and misstated the twist as 20", which is wrong)

thanks
