Good end to a crazy couple of weeks!

Post by 2ndovc »

Last Tuesday my Mom took a bad fall and ended up in the ER, shortly followed by a trip to the ICU where she spent about a week figuring out what caused the problem. Even though she blamed it on the dog she finally admitted that she has been having dizzy spells and feeling week. The issue has been finally sorted out and she has a faulty heart valve and will require surgery. She's not thrilled with that but understands the alternative and feels much better now that the Doc's are on the right track. At 74 this will be the first time she's ever had any real health issues.
About an hour before I got the call from the hospital I was informed that my sales position was being eliminated and that office was going to be closed. Really didn't care about that one bit as I have been planning on going back into business for myself for a couple of months now that I'm recovered enough to pretty much what I did before I got sick last year. I got up from behind my desk and handed my manager my new business card, said "thank you" and went on my way. Time to get back to the Construction World anyway!

So it must be something lined up just right today. Good news that my mom's heart problem can be fixed, business is going well and got a call from my dealer friend that I need to stop and look at something that just came in.

Came home with a barely used Sig Sauer MPX 9mm at a "stole it price".
Just one of those things about a pistol caliber carbine.

Finally get to slow down after a anxious couple weeks. Hope to get out to the range tomorrow if it isn't too nasty.

In the end, things always seem to work out.

You "stole" an MPX? Those babies are still pretty much on the hot side. Don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get out of "old school" thinking. I like my Model A Uzi's. :D ---6

Jason, glad to hear the Docs have figured out what's wrong. I too have been dealing with a sick parent. Dad is in his 3 rd hospital stay in 9 months. Myasthenia Gravis is on heck of a miserable issue! My brother in law had a heart valve done last summer. He got a cow valve instead of a pig model. Told that when it gives out in 12-15 years he would need a mechanical replacement.

Good luck to you Mom and God Bless!

Thanks everyone! I have little doubt she'll come through this just fine!

Jack,
Bagged the MPX for $1100. New they're still going for $15-1600 or so. I had an Uzi years ago and really enjoyed it. Wouldn't mind having another but they are going for big $ around here. Hoping one day one will wonder into my buddy's shop.
