... to President Ronald Wilson Reagan! :D :D :D

... who would have been 106 today, or as he liked to say, the 67th anniversary of his 39th birthday!

He was a much better president than I thought he would be, having been a high school kid in Arcata when he was governor. A great American.

The exact time and place where I was when he got shot. I'll never forget. They say you can't remember pain, but I can still feel that kick in the gut when I heard what happened.

I was still in high school. It was announced over the PA system. I was amazed that almost everyone went about like it was nothing. I remembered my Dad telling me the reaction that the news of President Kennedy being shot had at the school where he taught at the time (before becoming a FBI Agent he was a high school history teacher). Students and teachers alike sobbing in the halls. Granted, Kennedy died and Reagan didn't, but still... :(
