Sandy Andy sand machine. Sandy crane added

Post by Pitchy »

We made a Sandy Andy sand machine last couple days, it was more of a challenge than I thought getting all the weights just right.

Lenn, is there no limit to your talents? I love the way you get things to work but I'm amazed at how you think up these projects in the first place... 8) 8) 8)

What a mind you have Pitchster! There must be a very delicate balance of weights there.

Thanks fellars, it`s a touch thing, as ya say the weights have to be just right.
They made another one they called the Sandy Andy crane, we`ve been working all day to make one part on it and still failed.
Hopefully tomorrow. :)

Pitchy, there is no doubt in my mind you will figure out the Sandy Andy crane. I'll look forward to seeing a video of it in action.

Thanks Kirk, here`s what we are attempting next.
The movement is caused by the teeth in the middle and one end being heavier than the other at different times.
Making the teeth parts is the hard part.

You'll get it Pitchy. You got the knack. :D

When I see your projects, I always think of the time my son and I built a mini trebuchet we shot .44 round balls with. We had a blast with that thing.

Rock on, my friend. :D

It's like a catapult on steroids. Uses a weight and ropes with a pouch to throw the projectile.
It throws the projectile disproportionately fast compared the the speed of the swing.

Well fellars this one was a challenge , we worked hard on it all day and still couldn`t get it to drop enough sand to keep it going.
After a supper break we headed back to the shop.
After a redesign of the trough under the funnel we had success and it took off.
It`s a wonderful design, the heart of the machine is the teeth where it turns and makes it pivot up and down which makes the weight difference from one end to the other keep it going.
Tomorrow will put some paint on it and plug a couple leaks and shoot another vid.
Hope ya enjoy watching this go as much as we did

That is something else!! Congratulations on a very nice piece of equipment. There was no doubt in my mind that you would be able to get this going, even though it was very tricky. I've never seen a fellow like you, Pitchy, who can make just about anything you want. Too bad we didn't live closer, as I'd be over at your place on a regular basis watching you make amazing stuff.
