22 mags in the woods

got tired of sitting around the house and decided to go small game hunting and post deer season scouting in the local WMA....
and the loggers moved right in thinning and control burning the woods. It should be pretty good deer hinting in a couple of years and burns.
Saw some nice size tracks....but nothing was moving this late afternoon....Big storm moving in tonight.
Brought out the 22 mags....too bad i did not get to use them.....just got the Henry too!

have plenty of woods to pack it around in

I feel the same way about my 17 HMR levergun; here's the little 17 HMR Ruger 96 with a Ruger 77/22 for size comparison.



I originally got a Ruger 96 in 22 WMR, and really liked it, but wanted a 17 HMR instead. Since the Ruger is fed from a 9-shot rotary magazine (or 20-shot extended one) that feeds 17 HMR as well as 22 HMR, I bought another 22 WMR, and just converted it to 17 HMR by spending 10 minutes replacing the barrel with a nice Green Mountain one in 17 HMR.

Yeah there are plenty of cabbage palms, but you cant touch anything in this WMA.

I had 3 different types with me
ALL CCI
Gamepoint 22WMR 40gn , in my rifle
22mag V-Max HP 30gn, in my pistol
I had a box of 50 Max-mag 22WMR HP+v 30gn which I did not open yet

I shot a few times at a 2 liter bottle.....and my front sight is a bit hard to see towards dusk.
I am going to have to paint that brass bead a bright color or change it out.....

Other than deer tracks, one good sized buck, and a bunch of doe tracks, some quail tracks.
There were no signs of small game anywhere. No turkey tracks either! and that season is coming up in 2 months!
The logging operation covered a lot of ground and has everything messed up...

What are using on your foxes? We don't have many foxes, but a ton of coyotes! They need to be thinned!
And this is the first time I have not seen any bear sign!...Thankfully

Currently brother, 40grn HP Remington. Looks like the generic CCI bullet!

I have some old Remington accu tips to finish off and then onto Hornady V max.

I love the CCI maxi mag +V.
