What a cool idea! Even leaves part of the barrel for a handle, complete with bore.

I was looking at these metal detector guys going over battlefields in Europe finding all kinds of weird stuff on You Tube. One guy found a stash of iron crosses. ----6

Six, if you have Netflix there is a season's worth of shows there about a team that is hunting WWII battlefields. At the end of the series they found a German helmet, complete with skull. That was a deal breaker. The Gov't had to be called in so they could process the rest of the body.

I found a guy that makes knives from railroad spikes, has such a back log that last I looked he wasn't taking orders.

Those are really well done and good looking.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I've wondered about using gun barrel steel. Plenty of shot-out surplus barrels out there. Railroad spikes typically have too little carbon to make good blades, even the ones marked "HC" for high carbon. Not a bad choice though if you forge-weld in a high-carbon bit for the blade edge itself.

What is the name of the series?
