Dirty ammo

Post by GunnyMack »

When I bought the CZ I also picked up some Estate and Remington ammo. I tried the Estate first, knocks birds down just fine but it's dirty, leaves lots of unburnt in the bores. Then yesterday I tried the Remington's just as dirty!
Just for kicks today I pushed a loose patch down the bore, no solvent and the crud that came out was unbeleivable. Patch was black.
Gotta try some Winchester next.
Tried a few of the estate on the press, they don't crimp worth a darn.

CZ? Ain't sure exactly what that is. Estate? What's that? Remington, them I've heard of. I've used "Blue Magics" in the past for almost all of my skeet shooting. What I reload also, along with Winchester AA LNLR rounds. Haven't bird hunted in years... Used to use nothing but Federal paper shells for that. I don't ever worry about how "dirty" any smokeless SG rounds are, any unburnt or fouling pushes right out... Very little compared to a day's shooting BP SGs! :P  :D :D

I bet the cold weather has something to do with it. Velocity really drops under the freezing mark and the reason it drops is because the powder does not burn as efficiently. ----6

Ah blue magics! I can remember when those were great shells... Until you reloaded them one too many times and they burned through and became a slug! Few guys I shot trap with really got upset when they missed a few targets because of that!

I'm not concerned about the dirty residue, just wanted to put that info out for all to know.

Six this stuff is just as dirty at 40F as it was yesterday at 15F. I don't think it's temp related, it's just dirty powder. My LilGun load is much cleaner! Problem is I don't have many hulls!
