There are definitely times when a single-stage press is more desirable than a progressive one, and I suppose if you didn't have the space to keep two presses set up, or didn't want to spend the money for a second press, you could use one of these:

However, at $95, it might be better to get a separate single-stage press, unless you really were short on bench space....

No reason to not use the Dillon as a single stage by just rotating one case thru all steps before you do another. I do that when I'm developing a new load.

I took all the fancy guts out of my Lee Turret press, and manually index one at a time. The warm fuzzy feeling of a single stage without changing dies back, and fourth....

Like Griff I single stage the Dillon when setting it up or for test loads but I have 2 old Herter's presses nearby. One with 30-06/308 head size stuff, (that's a bunch of cals.) and the other for 45-70/90 stuff. Yeah I have to change out a shell lholder for odd balls like 38 S&W occasionally.

Ditto, bingo, etc. Dillon when I get the loads figured out and plan on 500+, Lee turret (the iron one) for smaller runs.
