A real work of art, but surely not something designed to be used. That chain grip sure wouldn't be comfortable, even though it looks pretty cool!

Why does he sprinkle cinnamon sugar on it at the beginning?

Thanks Old Ironsights, that was some cool, er, hot forging. Lenn, what was that powder he was putting on the hot metal? Gobbler? Somebody here has got to know. Oh yeah, cinnamon sugar.

Don`t know what he`s using but borax is used by some for welding which is what he`s doing.M. M. Wright wrote:Thanks Old Ironsights, that was some cool, er, hot forging. Lenn, what was that powder he was putting on the hot metal? Gobbler? Somebody here has got to know. Oh yeah, cinnamon sugar.
The borax helps get rid of impurities so the metal will stick together.
Gobbler would know more about it as he welds more than me.

Yep, I've used borax... tho' he may be using powdered steel to aid in filling his voids and welding. More ingenious IMO, is his power hammer. Watching those sure makes me want to get a propane forge!

I hear ya, been talking about building one for years but I just don`t do it enough to justify it.Griff wrote:Yep, I've used borax... tho' he may be using powdered steel to aid in filling his voids and welding.
