Dreary morning

Post by GunnyMack »

I'm taking a page from Pisgah, UGLY gun.
The club I belong to has X amount of birds to stock thru the season, today we are putting out birds. Not wanting to take my Red Label or my CZ out in the rain I decided to grab my Ithaca single barrel lever hammer gun.
When I got it it was a rusty mess, wood was shot. I gave it a couple coats of black spray paint, got new wood from GPC. Barrel had been cut.

Yep, gotta have one for rough use. I have an H&R of the same configuration. It looks funny with a polychoke, but I can adjust things to the conditions.

I have an M-66 as well. Not pretty, but quite functional.

Heehaw! Good one!

Hey Gunny, that's not a bad-lookin' shotshucker. She cleaned up pretty good.

+1. I've been looking for an old Ithaca like that one over here but no luck, my Stevens 94 16ga is my bad weather gun.

It rained all morning, still dreary but the birds were plentiful and the Ithaca cleared his throat 4 times, today the hens flew and the roosters held. I was alone other then the dog. She grabbed 2 roosters, had to take them away from the chocolate maw, both flew but I didn't shoot since I needed to put the gun down.

Yes black spray paint really does look quite good at a distance.

Cylinder bore, 7/8 oz of 7&1/2's are just devastating on these birds, now I remember why I started shooting small gauges.

And it's got a LEVER!
