Took the old 32WS in the Ocala National Forest this past weekend....
it came off the line around 1941
shes loaded for bear with 170gr core-lok soft points
Did not see much, got busted a time or two
Even heard a couple of gobblers early in the morning. Hunters were everywhere!!
Pretty darn thick woods....sand pines with scrub oaks below
Shes a carbine with a serrated steel shotgun butt plate
This place was the only part of the woods with no one around......not even deer....
Wasn't the greatest day in the woods, but a whole lot better than work'n
Who ever owned your rifle in the past really loved it. The wood is still "proud" to the metal. The bluing is worn, but not a pit anywhere I can see. It has spent a lot of time in the woods. I "know" that rifle is a shooter. If it could talk, it could tell a lot of tales.
I see these guns from time to time...there's a special character about them. I have an 1886 in 45-90 that has 232 notches on it...the condition of my gun mirrors yours.
The hunt is not the same unless you have the rifle of choice with you.---6
Personally, that's the way I like an old Winchester to look.
They are "comfortable". To me, finish wear means it was a good rifle, and was used for many years by someone who needed it. They weren't made to "collect", they were made to use. A rifle can be well cared for and still have a lot of finish wear. To me, they are more fun to own cause you aren't afraid to use it.

I know this screw well.. I'd like to point out it's a 3-36. These screws got to be such a pain in the butt to find .....before companies started offering them......I bought a die to make my own.----6

Very good point....and I have done that a time or two in the dog hunt areas....
I was hunting here in the morning....Same place where I saw 4 bears one morning.
The wind was blowing directly in my face..... did a few grunt calls
and that dang buck circled behind me and to my left.....
and one swirl of the wind and I was busted.
that black dot is a 250 pound bear 40 to 50 yards away....

But it looks like the threads don't match up...or the threads in the gun are buggered up.
I will check later today.....Maybe my neighbor has a die to clean them up...

Did you mean it's a 10-36? I'm probably wrong on the pitch, it's probably a 36 pitch but I think the plug screw from my box will be the correct one. What else takes a #10 plug screw? I'll check one with a thread gauge when I get my shoes on.
