A toke on the sig...

Post by Old Ironsights »

Most of you probably didn't pay much attention to a recent change in my sig...

I changed it because I have been researching my new favorite thing: Azidoazide Azide or: C2N14...

Here's a quick report...

It 'splodes.

When sun shines on it.

When air passes over it.

When cosmic rays hit it.

It 'splodes in perfectly sealed environmentally controlled storage units.

Just because.

I love this stuff...
When we last checked in with the Klapötke lab at Munich, it was to highlight their accomplishments in the field of nitrotetrazole oxides. Never forget, the biggest accomplishment in such work is not blowing out the lab windows.
We’re talking high-nitrogen compounds here (a specialty of Klapötke’s group), and the question is not whether such things are going to be explosive hazards. (That’s been settled by their empirical formulas, which generally look like typographical errors). The question is whether you’re going to be able to get a long enough look at the material before it realizes its dream of turning into an expanding cloud of hot nitrogen gas.

If you aren't ROTFL reading the above link, you aren't fit for organic chemistry research... (my evil cackling is severely weirding out my uber violent, semi-feral, "garage cat"...)
Trust me, you don’t want to be around when someone who works with azidotetrazoles comes across something “exciting”.

When I finally synthesize useable quantities of Antimatter without needing a particle accelerator, you will be the last to know... (NORAD and the "global big boom detectors" will be the first... and then it won't matter...)

Hey... be nice.

The last bottle of booze I bought was a "present"... and I haven't opened it yet.

A 15 y/o Islay single Malt is not something that "induces" anything... except reflection and tranquility.

Hoppes and Nitrogen is what gets me all bouncy...

He is decidedly working with moles that you use a periodic table to dissect. Dealing with compounds which prefer to release large amounts of bonding energy in a rapid exothermic manner is best done with a clear head.
