On our way down to Yuma about a month ago, we encountered these guys about 25 miles north of Boulder City on the Lake Mead highway. They were about a hundred yards off the road, didn't seem to give a hoot about us . They were butting heads off and on but couldn't get a good shot of that. These taken with my Canon set on max telephoto;
Desert Bighorns? Aren't they about the rarest of our wild sheep? I've read where the protected feral burros are stomping out their water holes and really endangering the Desert Bighorn.

Burros can really be a pain. One of my customers is Goldstone tracking station. It's located on Ft Irwin near Barstow, Ca. They had burro issues. Aside from the fact that they made a mess of the place, some were aggressive. And, they bred like bunnies.
A short while ago they began trapping and removing them. I'm not sure where they relocated them to, but it seems like a cruel thing to do to those humans and critters in that area.
One thing, they don't stomp out a water hole. What they do is dig for the water. Out at Goldstone they have been known to dig up and break water lines.
