375 winchester big bore

Post by 4t5 »

In one of Paco's books, I believe he mentions using 38/55 brass for loads because the Winchester big bore has a long throat, am I wrong in assuming 38/55 cartridges will chamber and fire safely, or is the bullet dia. just to great.

have a 99 & a 94 in 375, they will fire 38-55 ammo with no problems that I've seen
both will chamber the longer starline brass in 38-55, I pulled some factory 38-55 ammo
it was 375 dia. also some old Win bullets made in the 60s was 375 dia. marked for 38-55
Most all of my shooting is with cast bullets so opinions may very
check out Buffalo Bore ammo seems they sell 38-55 brass loaded for 375 & have more info

Thanks for the replies, I see bullets for the 38/55 vary quite a bit in diameter, I guess bore sizes differed from manufacturers, back in the day.
