... does anyone here know what "Silverlight" is?
I've been having issues with my Yahoo mail. Every time I open it up, I get a pop-up that "Silverlight needs updating".
I don't trust pop-ups.
Figured I'd ask you knowledgeable folks!
Thanks!

Re: Computer question...
It is a Microsoft product that can easily be removed by going to the remove programs tool.
I had the same stupid messages on two computers and then when trying to update it, was told that it had to be de- installed and a new version downloaded. I deleted it from both computers and the messages went away - also, no ill effects since I did not use it.
For more info, do a Google search on Silverlight.

Re: Computer question...
What they said.
Silverlight is a Microsoft product designed to give you an 'engaging interactive user experience', sort of like Adobe Flash, which also sucks.
Darn few applications use it and especially yahoo mail does not, other than there may be something in there they want to push advertising on you or such.
Control Panel, Add/remove programs and make it go away.
For want it's worth, a big application my company uses requires Silverlight...and we members of the technical staff loathe it. So I'm biased.
Also, depending on what version of yahoo mail you're using may be causing the error.
Go to the gear symbol in upper right hand corner, put your mouse cursor on it.
Select "Settings" and in the window that pops up, scroll down to the bottom and set your mail to Basic
