Depends on type of p gun. Spring air will shake a conventional scope to pieces. Pump or CO2 are fine with anything.

Piston-driven pellet guns recoil in the opposite direction that metallic cartridge guns due, and require specialized optics that are built to defeat reticle destruction.

While "pellet gun scopes" can be used on metallic cartridge guns, the reverse is not true.

I bought this one for my Gamo bone collector and seems to be holding up.
Keeping the scope in place seems to be another issue but the one oiece mount is hanging in there too.

If you put a quality scope on you won't have a problem, most folks stick a $40 scope on a pellet gun and wonder why it fails. If you put a high quality scope on you should be fine, I use a Burris Signature series scope on my .22 cal piston rifle and it has worked just fine for many years.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I'll try to clean it up, sure is messy. Last time I shot it I wiped it down with a silicone cloth, and today it was all sticky, like tape residue,it had a "soft touch" type finish, had.

You might try powdering it with talc to cure the stickiness. It has worked for me on similar cases.
Many years ago I bought a pound of unscented talc form a pharmacy to maintain my waders and rubber boots. I still have enough to last as long as I will need it.
Mica would probably work as well.
