What is wrong with the people who don't think a wild animal is wild? What are they missing?

Will Ferrell might sleep a little rough for a few nights.

I think they probably know/knew the risks. How many of us have done things just as dangerous because we can do something we love AND get paid for it?

AMEN and not with just those that try to train a wild animal either. Heck, just look what we have to look forward to in the up coming Presidential election.LeverBob wrote:Seems to me that there is a lack of common sense in the land of Uncle Sam...

I wouldn't be so harsh here.
If you want to see animals in movies beyond somthing shot by Marlin Perkins v.3, you need exotic animal training facilities.
Yes, it's dangerous, and yes handlers/trainers know it... and PETA hates them with an undying passion.
But unless the only bear you want to see in a movie is a cartoon named Baloo, this sort of thing will happen.

Here I have to support the "other side" I guess.RIHMFIRE wrote:two things I dont like....

Without putting animals in cages, 99% of American wouldn't ever see a real Bear - much less a rattler.
Without Zoos, two really friendly Grizzley Cubs would have been killed by some Ranger because their Trash-eating Mom got into trouble... those cubs are now in a brand new Habitat here in Michican City and are in noway visibly discontent.
From what I understand, most of the anmals being used by Exotic Animal firms are "rescues" who would have been killed otherwise.
IMO it's far better for a willing human to try to work with these animals to make films/populate zoos than to just put a bullet into them.

I feel bad for his family, but, he and them probably knew the risks associated with training wild animals. Especially dangerous ones like bears. That doesn't mean that they fully comprehended the risks though, so this is probably going to be as hard on them as a normal death would be.
I am not talking about the emotional toll, but rather the rational toll. There will still be pain, but no questions like, "how could this happen?". They know why.

Ironsights, I agree with you 100%. The facts NOT in the article, is these two have worked together for many years and it's unknown (other than the fact that it's still a bear) just why it did.
True this happens, and it's a known risk. I just hope whan one of us shoots something or someone by accident, or falls and breaks a leg while hunting, the rest of the world isn't quite so harsh.
It's a known risk.
Yes it CAN happen to anyone. Yes he was taking a risk, but a calculated one.
I for one enjoy many outdoor shows with "wild" animals in them.
