Speaking of .35/30s ...
Anyone here loaded this old wildcat? In the coolest gun thread I mentioned having a worn-out Remington Lee Model 1899 rebored to this caliber. With current bullets and powders and a 26-inch barrel, my thought is it would safely be more capable than the venerable .35 Remington -- a favorite of a certain juniper-cutting friend from Prineville.

I had forgotten that thread. Did you ever harvest game with your .35/30?

Mainehunter, are you necking up .30-30 brass in one step, or using a .32 or 8mm intermediate step?

I'm sizing them in one step using the dies I bought from CH4D but before I've used a combination of 30-30/375 Win. for full length sizing and 35 Rem/358 Win. for neck sizing/expanding. A little tedious but effective.Bill in Oregon wrote:Mainehunter, are you necking up .30-30 brass in one step, or using a .32 or 8mm intermediate step?

No problem!
I did have the reboring job done by JES who is in your neck of the woods. I have a Savage 219B 30-30 that I'm debating between a 30-30AI or another 35/30. Another note if you have it done by JES he can have it done in any twist rate you want.

Mainehunter: Jesse's shop is about an hour and 15 minutes from my home.
I will have to do some homework on twist rates. I have seen 1:16 cited in some of the threads, but I tend to prefer to overstabilize rather than understabilize. I note the .375 Winchester is usually a 1:12 twist.
