I picked this used but not abused Springfield 1911A1 this week at a store that opened a new location just a few miles from my office. The R1 also came from the same place. They're starting to call me the 1911 guy as it seems that I show up when someone trades in a good used .45! Not a bad habit to have.
Got out to the range between rain squalls ( almost) to run a box of my favorite hand loads, Winchester 230 gr FMJ over 4 grains of Bullseye.
It functioned perfectly but shot a bit to the left. Will do some more extensive testing shortly. Realistically it's never going to be a match pistol with those tiny WWII sights but that's not what I bought it for. It fills a gap left by the sale of my original 1911's.
It's a keeper for sure and really feels good in my hand.
The hunt continues...

I like a guy who always on a roll buying guns. You know, that good warm fuzzy feeling inside. Better than a wo..... forget that. Now that pleasantries have been given, let's talk about the 1918 trench knife you have there....original or repo? ----6
The trench knife is an original LF&C 1918. About as perfect as I've ever seen. Picked it up with some other goodies at an auction in Southern Ohio 15+ years ago. It's always been one of my favorite little trophies.
I have been on a good roll lately for sure. New job is going well and I've been enjoying myself. That whole "near death" experience sure put spin on my perspective of the world.

That's exactly what I mean. I getting to the point where I need those big black sights for shooting good groups these days. That's the plan for the next one. Trying to decide between one of the new Gold Cup Colt's or nifty new Sig Target.
Also need to replace my Delta. Really loved that pistol. Chewed the center out the targets.

Changed mine out to these from Brownell's... Improved my ability to pick up the sights tremendously, (sorry for lousy computer camera):
