Some of them had odd sized bores, so it may prove useful to slug the bore & use the proper size cast bullets.
In general, it's easier on that old, fairly soft steel, to use cast - reduces wear & tear a great deal.
Of course, this is less important if you will only shoot a few rounds.

Someone once loaned me a similar Springfield on the 200 metre range, it was a privilege to shoot with a piece of history, it was accurate too...
