You're right. I like. But I would need to see the powerplant output and fuel economy numbers too...

I wonder if the fuel economy is measured in miles per gallon or gallons per mile????

cute.

WANTED: a huge car manufacturer that's in hock, going broke, subsidized by the dotgovt. Need them to build cheap vehicles that will totally erode what's left of their international trade by competing with itself overseas.

All nimrods invited to shop proposals.

I like it. We need a couple new vehicles around here and those would work. Besides, I used to build model cars when I was a kid. That would be a blast.

From what I read in the article, it's not really designed to be "cheap" as much as "low cost" (compared to purchasing/delivering an equivalent truck) because it is deliverable to BFE on a pallet.

Lots of places without direct land or sea access that could use a truck or 3 that could be dropped by Civilian air-lift equipment (rather than the normal Military solution).

Likewise, the ability to mobilize a stack of flat-packed trucks to an area that has had virtually total vehicle destruction from natural disaster would be a huge benefit to Relief agencies.

And THIS is a great bit of design:

Never see one in the US or any CAFE countries though.

Engine: 2.2l diesel manual (Emissions Control? What Emissions control?)

Top speed: Around 70mph (No Autobahn for you...)

Turning Circle: 11.9m

Length:4.6 metres

Payload: 1900kg

I like the design. The built-in explosive space is innovative. I like the flat pack idea. I'd like to have one. I wonder about the transmission. Needs to be tough. Not sure but it looks like it would haul a half-van and maybe tow another?

I don't quarrel with the proposal, except for the bit about looking for a big manufacturer to roll 'em out. It won't be in the U.S.

Probably be a good thing to build in India where labor is cheap, manufacturing is a way of life still, and freedom from 27 layers of regulations.

Could have factories on both coasts of the Indian continent and cover distribution to the majority of the 10-40 window. I wonder how many fit in a container.

Biggest opponents will be Mercedes and Moog, eh?
