R.I.P. Hugh O'Brian
Sad to report Hugh O'Brian has passed away. Here is a photo taken by Annie Lebovitz of classic western stars. Larry, Ken Berry and Hugh were there for the photo shoot along with several other legends.

He was great. You could watch a new episode of some western every night, sometimes two or three.
Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel were my favorites as a Kid. The Life and Times of Wyatt Earp was not far behind.

Always liked Hugh Obrien! His small part later in life in The Shootist with John Wayne was great!

Re: R.I.P. Hugh O'Brian
I believe Clint Walker is the last man standing from this era of giants. What really impressed was his charitable work. This is from his obit in Variety:
O’Brian dedicated a great deal of his life to a charitable effort he created himself in 1958, the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, a nonprofit youth leadership development program for high schoolers. The organization sponsors 10,000 high school sophomores annually through leadership programs in all 50 states and 20 countries.
The concept for the program was inspired by the nine days O’Brian spent visiting with humanitarian Dr. Albert Schweitzer in Africa in 1958.

One of the truly good ones who worked in Tinseltown.
Re: R.I.P. Hugh O'Brian
I think on the DVD for "The Shootist" they said that when O'Brian found out they were making the movie he said he'd do a part in it for no pay. He just wanted in.

Old westerns are most of what I watch. Sad to hear of his passing. Not many of them left.
