Interesting - I did not know that Sears, ever put out a short barreled, extended capacity shotgun.
For various reasons and time limits involved, I have taken the plunge and ordered an ATI folding shotgun stock that fits "Most 12 GA Maverick 88, Mossberg 500/535/590/835, Remington 870 and Winchester 1200/1300 Shotguns," per their posting. I figure that a gunsmith might help me to modify the equipment if absolutely necessary, since this will be a permanent thing.
This is a photo from their website
When I practiced religiously with this stakeout gun sans stock, I would hold it up to sight level, lock my arms to keep it from hitting my head and hit targets with slug and shot at a fair distance. With full force loads, that technique is pretty rough on the bent right wrist, and I'm "a few" years older now. I would prefer to have my joints last a bit longer, but it's good to have a close quarters weapon at the same time. A folding shoulder stock is the obvious solution.
The weapon did not come shiny, by the way. I had it bead blasted and chromed after it started rusting from being in some cold weather in a trunk too long. Then, a camo sleeve covered up the glare when necessary. Were it more modern times, I would have had a dark Cerakote or other epoxy finish applied. Simple vanity propelled me to Varathane the slide as seen here.
Since the folding stock levers up over the firearm in an angling motion, I guess that will make my shotgun a Levergun!
