I spent a few days on a nice piece of Texas/US history

Post by JimT »

Some friends own a large chunk of what was once a training facility for the US Army Air Corps. The range is on their property and I spent some time checking it out.

The entrance to the firing range and what's left of the Control Tower.

The first low ridge is the 25 yard handgun range. The second ridge covered in mesquite trees is the 100 yard rifle range.

The handgun range had targets that swiveled .

They were controlled from behind the firing line with these handles and a series of cables.

Lots of old bullets ... 30 Carbine in the majority .. some 38 and 45 and some 30-06 ... a LOT of blanks ..

Where the target butts were pulled on the 100 yard range

That would be a cool thing to have on your ranch. I don't think I'd leave it over grown for too long.

Thanks Jimbo! Sure is somethin' how nature reclaims itself. One day in a hundred years the bulldozers will be going to work making new housing.

Not knowing your lead supply........looks to me you can replenish if low along with lots of scrap brass.----6
