It pays to lead a clean life !

Post by 6pt-sika »

Talked with a good friend who's getting out of reloading . And I came out with unopened 8 pounder of Unique and an unopened 8 pounder of W296 . My 410 and 44 Mags should be in good shape for ten or so years with 8 pounds of 296 . And the Unique will come in handy for my 10 and 16 gauge loads .

I might end up with 10 bags of #8 and or #9 Magnum grade shot from the same friend

Nice.

One could argue that most of your guns are set with the Unique. :D
It's one of the few powders I buy in 8 pounders. I use a ton of the stuff.

Unique is a very handy powder to have around, wonderful to get a free batch! But I have now tried Universal a bit (on Bill in Oregon's recommendation) and it appears to be virtually identical in burn characteristics to Unique but meters more precisely. I am switching next time I need to make an order...

Be a bit nicer if it were a free batch !

But no my friend is selling it . But the price is less then my dealer cost so what the heck .

My talley however has changed . I'm still getting a 8 pounder of W296 , but instead of 8 pounds of Unique I'm getting 16 pounds .

So my shotgun needs are pretty well covered at the moment .

24 pounds Universal Clays
18 pounds Unique now
9 pounds W296 now

Would be nice if I could find a couple 5 pounders of Blue Dot .

I normally wouldn't stockpile this much shotgun powder .

I haven't seen Unique on a shelf around here for at least 5 years.

Wish I could find someone locally around here who wanted an 8 lb. keg of 296! I'd gladly trade for Unique, even if it was less Unique! I got the 296 from a friend, and don't own anything it's good for.

Get a 357 , 41 or 44 MAG revolver . Eight pounds of 296 for a MAG pistol shooter or 410 shotgun shooter will last a pretty good while !

When I shot skeet competitively I went thru 8 pounds of 296 each year just for 410 loads . But I usually shot 200-300 rounds of 410 skeet every week .

Incidently my friend that's getting rid of this stuff has 4 eight pounders of Unique another guy and I are going to split . Then he has 4 eight pounders of 296 of which I'll take one and the other guy may take the remainder .
