Prayer Request - Update #3
I'll ask the board's indulgence and ask for some prayer's to guide the doctors' as they operate this afternoon to repair some damage my Mom sustained in a fall yesterday. Luckily it ain't the same hip as before.
6-22-16: Well, they put off the surgery till tomorrow afternoon, something about a low-grade fever, they want some anti-biotics in her system. Sis sez, the docs told her it's just a hair-line fracture, but they'll put in pins as that's the least intrusive measure. Said that if they don't pin it, it'll break and be much worse. Thanks for your prayers and good wishes.
6-23-16: Thank you for all the prayers, just got an update from my sis... she came thru the surgery fine. Docs said everything went according to plan. They're keeping her pretty drugged up, and because she's 91 (almost 92), lives alone, and needs to go thru rehab, which they haven't settled on, the hospital is keeping her over the weekend. I have a commitment up here on Sat (WA), then will head down there unless my agent HAS to have me pick up a load before Monday. Hate to drive this tank 450 miles for a one day visit... but will if she's not out of it.
Spoke to my sis on Saturday, and Mom is much improved. The hospital staff has already gotten her up and about... (she refuses to use a bedpan...). I got down here on Sunday and have had a good visit. Today she got transferred to a nursing home and will start her physical therapy on the morrow! She is looking forward to getting thru that, and back to her quilting and embroidery. As she said, I have too many in process and to-be completed to remain bedridden! Plus, in 3 years my oldest cousin turns 75, and she's determined to fulfil her promise to him and be at his birthday celebration in NZ!

Re: Prayer Request
Griff, I do reckon that this verse covers a goodly share of the folks here. James 5:16 KJV-- "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
Prayers said for your mother.

Re: Prayer Request - Update #2
If my mom was in the hospital and only 450 miles away I'd tell the agent to sit on it and I'd be on the way to see her.
My mom was in the hospital in March of 01. I was in Springfield, 1750 miles away with no traveling money, we'd just moved.
She was moved to the hospice section and was waiting for me. I didn't make it. I missed her by 18 hours.
I've yet to forgive myself.
Don't wait Griff, things happen in a second. Get there.

Hoping for the best for your Mom. And for you, too, Griff. It's not easy being away from your loved ones in the truck. That was the worst part of trucking..I don't miss it.

She is obviously one tough lady since she lives alone at 91. Prayers for healing sent.

I wish to thank you all for your heart felt prayers, both expressed here, in PMs and emails. He has heard. Now she has her work to do. Her indomitable spirit has sprung forth and I expect some very good results!

Re: Prayer Request - Update #3
Prayers continuing. Sounds a lot like my mom who described herself as "a hard headed old German lady".
