How do you 'stub on a donor barrel?' Is it easier/cheaper than getting a barrel re-bored or re-chambered?canonsix wrote:No it is not the original barrel, it started life as a SMLE 303 Brit, and was stubbed on the donor barrel. I have not had the chance to chrono the load yet but it shoots the 113gr fngc very well on top of LilGun. Doug

Doc,
They basically cut off the donor barrel just in front of the lug then bore it out and thread the inside to accept the new barrel. There are several variations on the process.
Here is one smith that does the work. I have never had this smith do work for me. I have only looked over his sight a few times. He has a forum of his own to cover some of the questions that come up about this.

Re: OT 327 Combo
How's the SP101 in .327 working for you? The rechambered NEF sounds cool. Almost bought a NEF in .223 the other day... Am rather interested in hearing out the .327 Federal. It's interested me since I first heared about it.canonsix wrote:Ruger SP101, and rechambered NEF both in 327 Federal. Doug

As for the 327 in a levergun, I contacted my gunsmith and he indicated a Marlin 1894 in 32 H&R would be an easy rechamber. Now I just have to find to find one, that is not made of GOLD
.
The Ruger SP101 is working out fine. I was looking for a perfromance level ,ie; 115gr @ 1300fps.So it looked like I was looking for a 9mm, which in a revolver is rare and expensive. So when the 327 came out I was in hogs heaven. Doug
