Blaine,
On Monday, I'm headed to the gunclub.....levergun less.......and that's rare for me.....but........

I'm bringing a Krag, 03A3, Garand, BAR, and an AR.

It's all a lot of fun. Each year the guys get together on Memorial Day to shoot and play army.-----6

We will be spending the day at the local VFW Hall Sunday. They have a great car show they put on every Memorial Day weekend, and we never miss it. Always good to spend the day with like minded folks there!

I would hug myself, but that's weird... so I will let the wifey do that.

Other than that, I'm dumping the oil on a Jap bike and playing with a (1942) Garand and a 1911.

That count?

(next year I've been tapped for Taps by the AL/VFW/DAV... not enough prep this year...)

Drives me nuts the endless parade of "Memorial Day Sales". First, they disrespect the sacrifices made. Add to that, they paid the full measure of devotion to God and country. "Sale" shouldn't be even associated with this weekend...

Went to a SASS Wild Bunch match today. Shootin' a 1911, an 1897 (trench gun clone) and levergun; and when that was done shot a 1903A3. Had a blast.

+1. Also, lots of folks seem to confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day. They don't get it. :(

Yep, I have to gently remind people Memorial Day is a day to remember the fallen. I'm still alive.

Yep, lot's of people don't know any better, but I'm pleased (in this day and age) that they are at least thinking of Military People. I sort of liken it to the Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays issue...
The phrase "Happy" Memorial Day, however, does not seem apt... :(
I think back when it was called Decoration Day, that might have spoken more accurately to the point of it all.

I couldn't agree more Blaine! As a veteran I understand the difference between Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. But I feel any opportunity to show respect for veterans past or present should be taken. In this screwed up world where many people mourn the passing of all sorts of celebrities who died, or politicians who passed; yet ignore the passing of soldiers. Putting such a high level of respect on celebrities, and ignoring the real heroes, seems a far greater injustice than celebrating veterans, regardless of which occasion it is.

Spent the day with my Army son, talked to the Swabby so all is good. Didn't get to talk to the Grandson who is in the Navy, (both he and his wife). The youngest is in prison. How did that happen????
I love them all though.
