Slugs in 10 gauge ML's

Post by 6pt-sika »

Tried some .770" 730 grain slugs in the Macfarlane yesterday with 70 and 80 grains of Triple 7 granulated 2Fg at 25 yards . The 70 grain by volume loads weren't so great but the 80 grains by volume was pretty decent or so I thought !

My friend just got a Pedersoli double 10 gauge ML and he was using the .730" 730 grain slugs pushed with 80 grains by volume of Triple 7 2Fg. Also at 25 yards .

After fingering my friends 10 gauge Pedersoli a bit I have a strong inclanation to get a Pedersoli 58 cal double rifle . Or possibly their double .72 !

Six-point, that MacFarlane is a lovely piece, and that's a heck of a target.
If you decide to pop for the Pedersoli Kodiak in .72, you'll want to order NEI's .732-835 Fosbury style conical mold. A nice fit in the Pedersoli barrel. I had one of these and foolishly sold the gun to a chiropractor in Oklahoma.

The Macfarlane is the first target . That was a right and a left barrel at 25 yards . I initially tried to patch the slugs but my patch material was to tight so I used an overshot oversize card to hold it in and I got that top target .

The better target was fired by my friend with his Pedersoli .

In regard to the ML double rifle , I think eventually I'm gonna have to have one . Most likely the 58 cal and if I do I think I'll put a scope on it .

I've been drooling over 8 bore rifled cartridge doubles for several years now . Dunno if I'll ever afford one but who knows !

The bullet for the .72" looks rather formidable !
