Just checked shipping rates...nothing is inexpensive anymore

Post by jdad »

I'm starting to get rid of just about everything firearm related. Posted the start in the classifieds and went to get a shipping quote for Hayabusa. Three pounds of dies shipped from OR to LA was almost $20 via UPS and almost $14 stuffed into a flat rate Priority Mail box. Even the small flat rate boxes that are about the size of the old VCR tapes is $6.45. I shipped a firearm back East and it was about $50. Taking everything to a recycle station may be easier. :o

Griff,
I have a couple gallons of once fired 5.56 & 9mm brass and 2 boxes of early vintage 44-40 ammo to give you next time your out this way.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

The mandatory 2 day Fed Ex price for a handgun was nearly 100$$ :o

USPS also has regional rate boxes. The weight limit is a bit lower than flat rate but still pretty good - 30# I think, maybe 50#. If its going in the same or adjoining region the cost is maybe 60% of a flat rate. If going across the country, its maybe a buck less than flat.

When shipping guns, I simply take it to the ffl and let him do it. He can ship handguns USPS for under $20 usually. Out here most guys charge less than $20 for transfers, so it's still cheaper than letting Fedex rape you. I knew one ffl who would do outgoing pistol transfers for free - that made gunbroker auctions super easy when I was selling some of my dad's stuff.
