I have sent a couple in for repairs. Never took over two weeks and one was for a crooked front sight ,not canted left or right, soldered on at a slight angle! That required re bluing. That gun was 12 years old but unfired and new in box. They did a complete re polish and re blue that is just like the old super BH high gloss job. Since Ruger soldered the front sight on crooked in the first place, all that work and return shipping was...... FREE......!

Evidently, this is free as well...They said they would call with an estimated repair cost.

Blaine , often they do things for free that others would charge for, especialy if the defect could be considered a possible safety issue. They will cover their rear and please the customer at the same time.
On the job I reported on above, the tech told me " if it left the factory that way we will fix it for free"
even if it is twelve years old.

Evidently, a factory defect. After a few hundred rounds, I wondered why I wasn't hitting anything, and I discovered that the little what-ever-you-call-it on the back of the cyl was chewed up, and the cyl was loose enough to move a half inch or more. I stuck it in the safe, and after 10 years finally got a round toit....

Back in '74 I had a .357, 4-5/8" 3-screw stolen... fast forward 15 years, I got a call from a local PD, they "found" my gun. I just had to show up in person to claim it. So I did... after filling out their paperwork, the detective sez... "hey, didn't you have a case of .357 mag ammo taken also?" "No", I tentatively replied, "I don't think so." "Yep", sez the detective, "I distinctly recall seeing that on the original report. We can't use Mag ammo, so I'd like to make sure it gets back the owner." So he goes to the evidence locker, comes back with the case of ammo and the revolver in a zipped up rug. I open the rug, and we check the serial number... all good. And while he makes the entry into the computer that the property has been returned to the owner, I inspect the gun. Both front & rear sights look like someone had set the gun on them and then conducted a 100 mph run down a 100 miles of rough asphalt road. Chewed to nubbins. Almost the all the blue was gone and gouges and scraps over what was left.

I was horrified. The Det. said that from the look on my face, he'd bet it didn't looked like that before. I showed him my (then 7 year old), everyday Combat Commander, which was just starting to show some holster wear. he suggested sending it back to Ruger... So I contacted Ruger, and they said they'd fix it, make it "right"... but convert it to their transfer bar system. No, I wouldn't get the original parts back.

Since I can't abide that, I turned it into a 1898 Winchester 1894 in 30WCF. Now, I wished I kept it and had it repaired... but not by Ruger (although they even said they'd re-polish and blue it). One ain't made to my "have-to-have" list, but sits there on the "be nice-to-have" list! My B-I-L has 11 of them... in various states of wear. I offered to buy the worst one... but he won't sell me ONE!!! No, I ain't tradin' that mdl 94... 'sides, he has more of THOSE than I do!
