Aloha Gentlemen,
Recently I was so graciously gifted a Williams FP sight for my Marlin model 36. This is a standard field model but since I'm stuck on Oahu where hunting is pretty much out of the question (too urban and crowded with too many people, too little game) so I decided to focus on target shooting cast lead reloads so I ordered a set of target knobs from Brownell's. I'm used to 5Ds, and WGRSs but this is my first FP. I removed the set screws that hold in the old adjustment screws in but I could not get the old adjustment screws out to replace with the knobs. What is the trick to this? I tried unscrewing them out but they seem to just spin. I have been easy on the sight not wanting to force anything and strip a thread or anything. If there is a trick that you'd like to share it would be deeply appreciated.
Mahalo nui (thanks allot)!

IDK, Ji - but I'm sure a quick call to William's customer service dept would be your surest bet.

As far as I can remember, you need to take out the small locking screws and remove the spring and detent balls (don't lose them, although they are not under pressure at this point), then start unscrewing them. The only part of the target knob set that I use is the elevation knob. Once you get the windage adjusted you probably won't need to touch it again, just learn to use a bit of kintucky windage. Got this setup on my win 94 and marlin 1894c. HTH

Brownell's sells the 'Target Knob Kit' separately, too.
I believe there is a 'short' and 'tall' version, but I think it was easy to figure out which was appropriate from the Brownell's website.
I just use the elevation one, as well.

Re: Target Knobs on a FP?
I got both windage and elevation knobs for the aesthetics but I forgot to order the Target Elevation Gib Lock Knob.
Now I have to pay for shipping again which is almost the same price as the item! Whata maroon.
Is the click-indent ball and spring under the set screw? Thanks!

OOPS, forgot to mention the lock knob. BTW, you're gonna have to take about an 1/8th inch off of it for it to fit. Had to do that with all my williams FPs that I put it on.Ji in Hawaii wrote:I got both windage and elevation knobs for the aesthetics but I forgot to order the Target Elevation Gib Lock Knob. Now I have to pay for shipping again which is almost the same price as the item! P.S. Yes, the detent ball and spring are under the little screws. Don't forget to add a drop of oil in those holes before you put the screws back in (won't take much oil).
