I appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers from folks here. Twyla has recovered from her surgery to the point where she is anxious to get back to Mozambique ... and I have been ready to go for some time. We have made arrangements for the flight back and are spending the remainder of our time packing and getting ready. We will let you know how things are going once we hit the ground and recover from being crammed into a metal tube and flung through the atmosphere at high velocity.
Glad things worked out well Jim for you and the family. Safe trip home!!!!! I fly to Ukraine every summer now it seems. Long flights are hard but doable if you take a lot of cat-naps! -Tutt aka Andy

The thing about the long flights (16 hours on one airplane to Johannesburg) is about a year later you get to thinking "That wasn't so bad. I could do it again."

I just got thru a 13 1/2 hour flight last Sunday . It actually wasn't so bad other then the fact I had a sinus infection by the time I got off the plane .

I do have one question. I've only flown within the 48 and at most it's never been more than 4 hours...to Colorado. When I get off the plane I feel like I've been sandwiched and bound by shrink wrap. I have NO idea how anyone could withstand more than 4 hours in a plane. I usually take a mild sedative just so I can sleep through it all. Yea, the richy rich can fly first class.
When traveling so many hours overseas, are the poor people seats the same as domestic flights or is it all kinda like "first class" seating? Thanks....6

Nope the cheap seats for international flights are just as narrow as the ones on domestic flights !
To give you an idea my recent trip to the Philippines was with Korean Air . Dullus to Seoul to Manila roundtrip in economy was $1400 the same thing in business class is about $5000 and the same thing first class is like $18,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 point....amazing! I have no idea how people endure such atrocities...willingly....but...I am claustrophobic. I drive in my Jeep from my place to Harrisburg (100 miles) and I'm ready for the fight club. Probably why I only drive at most...3,000 miles a year. Thanks bud---- ----6

Everytime I head to the Philippines I try and make sure I'm tired when I arrive at Dullus . Then I can usually take several naps on the long flight and one or two on the short flight . I can't get to Manila from the east coast without two flights one usually 12-14 hours and the other as little as 4 or as much as 9 if I go thru Dubai .
