12 Gauge Odd Ammo

Post by mikld »

I received a flyer in the mail yesterday from a "nearly everything firearms" vendor J&G Sales. I paged through the ammo section and saw some 12 gauge ammo I've never seen before. "DDUPLEKS" 1 oz. expanding steel slug, 2 3/4". Never seen or heard about steel slugs in a shotgun. Not a big deal to me, 'cause I don't have a shotgun anymore, just sharing a new to me item. Anybody know much about expanding steel slug use in a shotgun?

I'd buy some just to check out; probably be banned soon if they are too much fun...

I've seen some tests of it, and it seems to be pretty accurate as well as giving good expansion. IIRC, it comes from one of the Baltic states, perhaps Latvia? 8)

If it's the ones I have seen they are like a composite design of plastic and steel petals.
