XS Sights Scope Rail?
I'm thinking of putting one of these on my Marlin 35/30-30. There are two different versions for 336. It doesn't say on their website what the differences are but I'm thinking the 35 Remington version has a taller front sight. Right?

Re: XS Sights Scope Rail?
That may well be the only difference.
Since they don't seem to offer the specs on it, you may have to email them.
I get frustrated at mfgs that don't put that info on their websites. I guess they figure most of us are too dumb to need it

I had the same frustration with the Talley Corp when I asked about the specs (vertical distance from bottom of base to center of Talley peep sight). However, I did locate a Talley distributor that did work with me and learned that the ctitical measurement is .30 inches, which exactly matched to vertical height of the standing leaf of the express sight on my Simons Suhl .405 double; so I ordered the Talley peep and it fit and shot into the x ring on the first 100 yard shot from the bench rest! Very close to the placement with the scope. Serendipity!

Same shot at 100 yards with scope installed!

Get the facts one way or another and you will likely be OK.

.
XS Sights makes basically 2 mount rails that support the Scout scope option.
1) The original, named the XS Leverscout Mount, extends from the receiver top FWD of the EJ port to the rear bbl sight location.
The rear end of the LeverScout mount for all leverguns is anchored in the 2 FWD scope mount prep holes atop the receiver, and the FWD end is anchored in the rear bbl sight location via an adaptor - which leaves the rear of the receiver clear for the installation of a separate receiver peep sight for backup.
2) The second version, named the XS Lever Rail, extends from the extreme rear of the receiver, FWD to the rear bbl sight location, BUT is anchored to the receiver only via using the 4 front/rear scope mount prep holes atop the receiver.
The 2nd version can only accept a rail-mounted peep sight for backup - and the full receiver length rail allows mounting a scope in the "normal" position atop the receiver, besides the FWDE/Scope position. ( 2 different scope eye-relief situations)
There are some variations of the above 2 basic rails:
A) Some variations have a different hole pattern/spacing for the different Marlins (1894 or 336/1895, etc)
B) Two more variations for full-length rails with the XS peep sight are different heights for a rifle with the front sight mounted on a ramp, or for a rifle with the front sight mounted directly into a barrel dovetail.
C) Yet another variation is a full-length rail w/o a peep sight for those folks that don't need/want iron sight access.
What all of the above means for a Marlin .30-30 owner is:
Do I want to mount a scope in the Scout/FWD position, or in the "normal" position atop the receiver ?
Do I want a backup peep sight option , or not ?
If I do want a peep sight option, do I want a rail-mounted peep sight, or a receiver top/side mounted peep sight ?
(And, here, you thought there was an EASY button
)
