Congrats... SWeeet! I bought one of those a couple of years ago on GB but had to send it back because the barrel had a bulge the seller claimed he didn't notice Been watching this 250-3000 but my lust for it is fading as the price climbs ...http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =542563595 Bought one in 30-30 a couple of months ago for $425 that I'm in the process of dolling up..Sure was fun dis assembling it and admiring the pre war all milled workmanship.

Re: Added a Savage 99A 375 Winchester
Ben, A 30-30 is on my list, have one but it wont shoot cast bullets
Ray, I think your dead on with your words!!
Doc. your right it seems its moved 5 jumps ahead of my 94 in 375, born in 55 & my eyes are still good but not worth a hoot with most bbl. sights, receiver sights do help a lot & do have a few of them
Mainehunter, have shot it with 3 different cast bullets, 235 - 250 & a old Ideal bout 275 gr. it does not seem to be finicky & well pleased with it, 300 gr bullet would be fun!!

Man! You get all of the neat stuff!
Nice rifle Brad. Guns like that are keepers. It has three great features...lots of condition....super
caliber....and......drum roll please.....a very nice near indestructible scope that looks like 2.5X Weaver.
I just stuck one of those on a 6920 Colt.-------6

Re: Added a Savage 99A 375 Winchester
Well, two out of the three: I'm not so sure about the Weaver. Yes it is virtually indestructible but I have two of them and I have to say they look wonderfully vintage but the optics are on the murky side. I just swapped the one I had on my Remington pump for an elderly Leupold M8-4x I found on my LGS consignment shelf and things sure got easier on the old eyes.Sixgun wrote: Guns like that are keepers. That said.... Good grief Brad! That baby looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Where in the world did you dig up that one? Wow!

Wow! Very nice Savage OL.
Yes, I think we'd all like to see a group 99 pic. I've only owned a couple 99's, but they are beautiful rifles and were way ahead of their time.
Good score man!

A caliber 38 model 99 is on my list to encounter and bring home one day. Cannot think of a better caliber to have handy.

Edited to add: Aye gawd! It just dawned on me... another hunting for components for the 375! In a fit of generosity I gave my last box of Hornady bullets away!!! Thought I had TWO!!! Oh well, I'm sure the recipient appreciates them as much as I have... now, to get the Hornady 220FP back in production!

Good score! Nice looking rifle – I am partial to the straight stock M99 rifles.
Ray wrote: “The powers that be at Savage say that this gun cannot be reproduced today for less than $5000..... I believe that either Browning or Miroku could build something close to this for around a grand….”
Would be nice to see the M99 back in production, but then we would have people groaning and moaning and urinating that it was not made in the US, it’s not a real Savage 99, at a $1000.00 price it is only for those with deep pockets, etc.
And speaking of reproductions, I would not mind a M99A type in 303 Savage, 30 WCF, or .358 Winchester….

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Re: Added a Savage 99A 375 Winchester
For those of you that are interested a FFL dealer here in Wheatland has about 80 99s
for sale on consignment, its the biggest sale of 99s I have ever seen, many in 358-375 & one
in 7mm 08, a few 284s & of course all of the rest, have only looked at a few very close & they were all 80% or better, I may have to go back & look at a 99A in a 250, but after the last 2 99s it will be awhile, the 99 is rare around here so this is a treat to have it in town
so if any body wants a phone number pm me & I will give it to you!!
I do not have a horse in this race other than dealer may give me a break on another one!!
Thanks for all the nice comments!!

Naw, it comes in at about 10th place... behind almost all of those thin receiver, tube magazine, lever carbines by either Winchester or Marlin. When one is talking about "saddle" guns... Re: Added a Savage 99A 375 Winchester
When I was young I looked at 99's in a ho hum light and they were common and reasonable. My Father would just look at a 99A and tell me that's a beautiful rifle maybe someday. Well someday never came ,but has I am older now I really appreciate the 99 and the 99A more so. Seems like I only find them when I am broke.
Congrats!
Congrats!
Re: Added a Savage 99A 375 Winchester
If it is chambered in the .308WCF, it blows away all of the tube-fed levers. It then becomes a 400 yard, saddlegun, brush gun.Griff wrote:Sometimes it's almost impossible to resist!!??ollogger wrote:Didn't want to take away No 7s post on the 99A, maybe If I knew what I was doing on this thing
