The other day I saw a list of prices at the station

89 oct $3.58
91 oct $3.75
Diesel $4.05

Cool in a sad levergun sort of way.

I remember when diesel was cheaper. How the heck did that happen.

Here in my part of WV gas is now 3.699 for 87. I can go to Winchester, Va and it is 30 cents cheaper.

Don't y'all love the name of that city? :D

Diesel should be more expensive as it takes more crude to make a gallon of diesel than a gallon of gasoline.

I thought diesel came off first during the refining process so it should be cheaper?

I used to haul gas and I know around June 1, it will get more expensive because the summer blends will start.

Hobie, My son tells me its supply and demand. With the huge demand for diesel now with the rising quantity of diesel trucks, etc, and the same capacity for making diesel, it keeps going up. Personally, I think Al Gore is doing it as I hear his home electricity bill is 5K a month! :D ----------------------Sixgun

YK you can add 22 cents a gallon to regular gas, Diesel is 4.60 a gallon.

Diesel is a by product of normal production. It is typically considered cheaper to produce. The amount of Diesel available is dependent on production schedules. Current gas prices are reflective on the increased demand throughout the world, mainly in China, and also in the turmoil filled areas of south america. OPEC has not cut gas production. The US reserves have trippled in the last year due to Bush's efforts. The Dems are gonna want to release those reserves if they get in office.

$5 a gal is coming. $6 for diesel. Just figured that when it gets there, I will be spending 16% of my income on fuel to get to work. This is seriously gonna impact levergunitis.

Sure glad I live a mile from work.

If I have to I can park the car for weeks at a time.

One thing I'm doing more of is ordering online. Shipping is getting to be a bargain compared to driving across town to some specialty store. It's not that hard to burn $10.00 in gas just doing a few errands.

Here's an interesting story on the 'true' cost of gasoline, and the market manipulation, taxes, etc. Seems we should be madder at the regulators than the oil companies, but of course Obama has been running ads trying to get the college-age-crowd to vote for him because he'll protect them from the evil free market.

It is quarterly reports season for the major's. Look at the profits from downstream or refining. Some companies don't even make money on refining because we cannot pass on the true costs of the operation.

If there is no profit in gas refining, don't expect much new capacity to come to market and expect the situation to get worse.
