I'll wait, see if they are any good. If they are, and the price is right, I'll buy one.
Re: US-Made AKs <|:-)
One thing popped out at me. The mention that it is the favorite weapon of guerrillas. But much like the bad line from Heartbreak Ridge (the preferred weapon of our enemies) it is not true. But it is the one most supplied to these folks by the soviets.

Actually, it's just that it's the easiest copied. Still a gun used by our enemies. I won't have one in my house. And feel anyone else that would is an enemy. If you've been shot at by 'em... you learn to hate 'em.jeepnik wrote:One thing popped out at me. The mention that it is the favorite weapon of guerrillas. AKs, and variants are used by quite a few of our allies....(Nothing wadded up , But I do know that in the early days when M-16 would jam in a dusty room that warriors would try to find an AK for its dependability)

While the AK certainly is an "enemy" weapon......it's in use by most of our allies these days too.
Including NATO members. Like Poland, Estonia, and the various less-than-willing ex-Soviet "allies".
I've gotten over the whole It's An Enemy Weapon thing.

The Saigas have been pretty reliable, and the only difference seems to be the magazines aren't interchangeable.

I would be willing to try one out. Especially if they would chamber it for the 300 Blackout. AK-300, anyone?

As I recall, Kalashnikov USA has nothing to do with Kalashnikov anything besides making them independently.
And this is severely old news, Fox. Everybody is jumping on the AK made in America bandwagon now that the tap from Russia was turned off. It's actually affordable for them to do it now.

Re: US-Made AKs <|:-)
Blaine what I bought last summer was made by ZASTAVA, MODEL PAP M77PS .308.
It is Serbian manufactured. It is Civilian version of Zastava M77B1, chambered in .308/7.62×51mm, using 10-round magazine. The Military Model M77B1 is select fire. The M77PS semi-auto comes with black plastic thumb hole stock (sporting stock). If you put Yugo AK47 furniture on it it looks like a regular AK47.
Mine shoots very well but is not made in the USA.You could get them for between $550-$600 last year.
I can not ever remember being called the enemy and my under shorts aren't in a wad.

Agreed. The more likely threats to endanger the homeland in the next couple decades won't be Chicoms with AK's, but Blue-Bonnets with AR's - probably contract purchases from Colt. . . .

I was under the impression that Century Arms already sold a 100% American made AK...

Hating an inanimate object because of what someone did with it some time ago is kinda silly. If that be the case then should we destroy all single shot BP derringers, like the one that shot Lincoln? Or melt down every Carcano as the weapon supposedly used by Oswald?
AKs are used the world over because they are cheap and they work...

Griff,
While I can understand the sentiment involved with being shot at by AKs, I think the "anybody who'd have one is an enemy" thing is an unfortunate statement.
No guilty conscience here.
I have four & don't consider you an enemy.
Also have a Mauser.
No guilt.
And a Walther P-38.
Same.
And five ARs.
Does that help balance anything out?
In my case, I've never been shot at by an AK.
Have had a couple hunting rifles come way too close, but don't consider hunters as enemies.

To me they are just a tool, they dont represent anything really at this point. The world is knee deep in them. Many of the volunteers that have gone to fight against ISIS use them. There are some M16's, which some westerners have chosen, but its much simpler to find AK ammo where nearly everyone is using them, and ammo supply is sometimes what you can capture.

I'm wondering why they located in Pompano Beach. that's one of the higher rent districts here in the gunshine state. Colt has holdings in Kissimmee which makes a little more sense but not much more.

All of the electronics, your big screen TV, your cell phone, the computer and keyboard you are typing on, the clothes you wear, the steel, tires, airbags, and electronics in your AMERICAN ASSEMBLED truck or car, your bmw, Mercedes, Nissian, my British blunderbuss , etc, come from countires that either have shot at us, or are conspiring against us. Guess i'll have to eat French fries and drink DOM to be safe.

There ain't no "us", "we" or "them", "their", "our" or "ours" in my sentiments. Simply "me", or "I". Ever time I hear one, I have a hard time NOT returning fire. I avoid public ranges. The sight of them sets my teeth grinding. CQB ain't a concept...
The only balance is, is that somewhere, there's a fellar still left that hates the sound of a Thompson just as much... that make's me smile...

Initial negotiations, county put money into the property, Colt never did anything with it & the deal eventually fell through.
