Re: Rain or shine.
I read that at the big ML shoots at Friendship IN. that the cap lock shooters have more trouble with the rain than do the flinters. It may have been a flintlock shooter who said that though.

Hey Nath, your next challenge is, shooting ducks in a snowstorm with a Matchlock...
Well done my friend, sometimes the harder the sport, the more satisfaction you get from it....

Re: Rain or shine.
At one of the Royal Navy Days at Portsmouth, they did a reenactment of Lord Nelson getting shot at the Battle of Trafalgar, just as the scene was to be played (out side) it started to rain, so I was intrigued to see if the Frenchy in the crows nest would get his flintlock musket to fire, I was surprised that it did without a hitch.
My own attempts in light rain were more hit and miss....

Good morning
Nice looking pheasant ! Flintlock hunting is a great sport. Our area of east ILLinois used to have pheasants but there are few to see anymore. But crows are a good flintlock sport. We abound in those rascals.
when it is wet a frizzen has to be watched for but they will still spark if well tuned. If there is time I wipe the flint and frizzen face.

Thanks Nath. Is that pheasant cross-bred with something? Not much color.

Flintlocks & Rain...
Issue solved. It's called B'arr Grease... (OK, any waxy Grease) wiped around the joint of pan & frizzen that will keep out. Moisture.
A properly primed flinter will withstand anything short of a Swim...
